Question : MISSION INDRADHANUSHA



(a) the districts where the mission Indradhanusha has been launched, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether the Government proposes to launch the said mission in the entire country, if so, the details thereof along with the time by which it is likely to be done;

(c) whether the Government proposes to launch any drive for pregnant women along with the aforesaid mission; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI JAGAT PRAKASH NADDA)

(a) & (b): The Government has launched “Mission Indradhanush” on 25th December 2014 in the entire nation with a special focus on 201 high focus districts across 28 State/UT. The State/UT wise special focus 201 districts for “Mission Indradhanush” is given in Annexure.

Mission Indradhanush will provide protection against seven life-threatening diseases (diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B). In addition, vaccination against Japanese Encephalitis and Haemophilus influenzae type B will be provided in selected districts of the country. Vaccination against tetanus toxiod will be provided to the pregnant women.

Under Mission Indradhanush, week-long intensified immunization drives are being conducted for four consecutive months starting from 7th April 2015. Three more rounds have been planned from 7th May to 13th May, 7th June to 13th June and 7th July to 13th July, 2015.

(c) & (d): Under Mission Indradhanush vaccination against tetanus toxoid is provided to the pregnant women.
