Question : Cleanest and Dirtiest Stations

(a) whether the Railways has released a list of cleanest railway stations in the A1 category;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether Varanasi railway station has been found to be the most dirtiest railway station among all other railway stations in the country; and

(d) if so, the steps taken by the Railways to clean the railway stations as per the ranking shown in the said list?

(a) Yes, Madam. Indian Railways have conducted survey on assessment of cleanliness standards of major railway stations (A1 and A category) based on the feedback from the passengers.
(b) These stations have been ranked from Cleanliness Level 1 (highest) up to Level 5 based on passenger feedback. Out of 75 stations falling in A1 category, 03 stations ranked in Level 1, 23 stations in Level 2, 30 stations in Level 3, 18 stations in Level 4 and 01 station in Level 5.
(c) No, Madam.
(d) Zonal Railways have been directed to take appropriate measures to improve cleanliness standards at the stations based on the passenger feedback on various cleanliness parameters.
