Question : LOAN FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS



(a) whether in order to increase the power generation from renewable energy sources huge capital investments is needed;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has sought liberal financial aid and loan from the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank for setting up of renewable energy projects in the country;and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b): The capital investment for setting up projects for grid-interactive power generation from renewable energy sources is highly resource and site specific. Resource-wise details are as under:

(c)&(d): The Government had in past availed Lines of Credit to the tune of Rs.930 crore from the World Bank and Rs.440 crore from the Asian Development Bank, which was fully utilized/ closed by March, 2008. No further Lines of Credit have been sought from these institutions till-date.
