(a) to (d): Geological Survey of India (GSI), an attached office of Ministry of Mines, carries out mineral exploration for various minerals like Iron Ore, Manganese, Chromite, Gold, Platinum Group of Elements, Base metals, Rare Earth Elements & Rare Minerals, Molybdenum, Nickel, Tungsten, Lithium, Vanadium, Limestone, Bauxite, Graphite, Potash, Gypsum, Phosphorite, Coal, Lignite etc. under different stages e.g. ‘Reconnaissance survey'' [G4], ‘Preliminary exploration’ [G3] and ‘General exploration’ [G2] throughout the country as per its annual field season programs following the guidelines of United Nations Framework Classification and Mineral Evidence and Mineral Content Rules (MEMC-2015) for augmenting mineral resources. Survey and exploration are ongoing processes.
GSI, during its present field season 2019-20, has taken up 7 nos. of mineral exploration programmes on G3/G4 stages on various minerals and 2 nos. Regional Mineral Targeting (RMT) programmes for identification of potential mineralized zone in different districts of Bundelkhand region falling in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
