Question : Operation of Wide Body Aircraft from Kozhikode

(a) whether the Government is aware of the difficulties being faced by the passengers, especially the expatriates, due to the delay in restarting the operation of wide body aircrafts from the Kozhikode airport and if so, the detail thereof; and
(b) whether the Government proposes to restart the same at the earliest and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) The Government has received representations from associations and public representatives regarding commencement of wide body operations at Kozhikode airport.;
A Committee has been constituted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation with aviation experts to oversee the implementation of the recommendations made in the report of the investigation conducted by AAIB on the accident at Kozhikode Airport and the execution of the steps required for implementation of the recommendations. One of the mandates of the Committee is to study the feasibility of operation of wide body aircraft at Kozhikode airport and to give its recommendations thereof.
