(a) whether the Government has given clearances to Oil Public Sector Unit’s to set up new 2G ethanol plants recently;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the number of companies that have applied till date to set up these plants along with such plants that have been granted clearances till date State/UT-wise?

(a) to (c) : The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has received five (5) proposals for grant of Environmental Clearances for setting up new 2G ethanol plants under the provisions of the Environment Imapct Assessment (EIA) Notification, 2006. Out of which four (04) projects were granted environmental clearance to oil Public sector companies and one project was granted Terms of reference for preparation of EIA/EMP report. The details of said projects are annexed herewith.
