(c) the steps taken to avoid the frequent hike in prices?

Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS, SPORTS AND MINES ( SHRI SUKHDEV SINGH DHINDSA)

(a), (b) and (c) National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has not increased the basic prices of its Aluminium products after 1st February, 2000. Adjustments to various discount structures, however, have been made from time to time. The last such changes were made effective from 1st July, 2000. Internationally, Aluminium prices are based on London Metal Exchange (LME) price index besides the demand and supply scenario of different global market segments. While reviewing its domestic prices, NALCO takes these factors into account besides the comparative landed cost to buyers from other alternate sources and Company`s overall inventory position. Hikes in basic prices of Aluminium products by NALCO are not frequent.
