Question : Roll out of Second Dose of Vaccine

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Union Government has rolled out the second dose of vaccines against COVID-19 across the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the total number of beneficiaries who have received the second dose as on date, State/UT-wise;
(d) whether the roll out of the second dose vaccines against the COVID-19 across the country was off to a slow start and only a meager number of healthcare workers received the second dose; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor?

Answer given by the minister

(a) to (c): The roll-out of COVID-19 vaccination drive has begun from 16th January 2021. All those beneficiaries who have completed 28 days since the receipt of 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine are eligible for 2nd dose. Till 8th March 2021, a total of 37.61 lakh beneficiaries have received 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The State/UT-wise details are at Annexure.
(d) & (e): The roll-out of the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine has been satisfactory. As on 8th March 2021, 66.67% of the eligible Health Care Workers have received 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
