Question : UNEMPLOYMENT IN MINING INDUSTRY



(a) whether unemployment is increasing rapidly in Bihar, Jharkhand and other States due to the closure of mining industry in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof, industry-wise, State and Union Territory-wise; (

(c) the reaction of the Government thereto; and

(d) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): As per information made available by Indian Bureau of Mines some instances of workers being laid off due to closure of mines has come to the notice of Government as per details given below:-
