(a) whether the Government have received any proposals from the Government of
Rajasthan suggesting certain amendments to the Electricity Bill, 2001 during October,
2001;
(b) if so, the reaction of the Government thereon;
(c) whether the proposal has been examined in details and suggested amendments
incorporated in the proposed Bill;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the time by which it is likely to be approved and implemented?

(a) to (e) : The Electricity Bill, 2001 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 30th
August, 2001 and referred to Standing Committee on Energy on 31st August, 2001 for
examination and report. The Standing Committee has invited comments from different
stakeholders on the provisions of the proposed legislation. Various stakeholders
including the Government of Rajasthan have given their comments to the Standing
Committee. The Standing Committee on Energy has not submitted its report so far.
