Question : SCHEME FOR INTEGRATED TEXTILE PARKS



(a) whether Scheme for IntegratedTextile Parks (SITPs) was launched in 2005to neutralize the weakness of fragmentationin various sub-sectors of textiles;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the number of projects sanctionedunder SITP during the 11th Five Year Planand 12th Five Year Plan, Plan-wise;

(d) the number of projects completedduring the 11th Five Year Plan and12th Five Year Plan, Plan-wise; and

(e) the steps taken by the UnionGovernment to complete these projects?

(a) & (b): With a view to meet infrastructural gap in textile sector by creating world class infrastructure to keep textile industry globally competitive, the ‘Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP)’ has been launched in 2005.

Under the scheme, total financial support by GoI is given up to 40% of the project cost subject to a ceiling of Rs. 40 crores. Out of the 74 parks sanctioned till date, 63 parks are under various stages of implementation.

(c): A total of 31 projects were sanctioned during 11th Five Year Plan and 13 projects have been sanctioned in 12th Five Year Plan.

(d): A total of 5 projects were completed during 11th Five Year Plan and 11 projects were completed during12th Five Year Plan as per scheme guidelines.

(e): The Union Government has appointed Project Management Consultants to assist these parks for speedy execution of the projects. Office of Textile Commissioner has been entrusted with the responsibilities to monitor progress of these parks and coordinate ona regular basis with respective State Govt. to ensure timely completion.
