Question : HOUSES TO EWS



(a) the number of flats available for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category in all the metropolitan cities including those of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Delhi.

(b) whether more than 3.5 lakh flats are lying vacant in the metropolitan cities which reached to about 6 lakhs after including the satellite cities;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto; and

(d) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to provide houses to all the people of EWS category ?

(a) to (c): ‘Land’ and ‘colonization’ are the State subjects and therefore, no such data related to availability of flats and vacant flats, is being maintained.

(d): As ‘land’ and ‘colonization’ are State subjects, it is the primary responsibility of the State Governments to provide affordable housing. However, Central Government assists State Governments in providing afford able housing to common people through its schemes.
