Question : Security of Airports

(a) whether the Government has any plan to implement the
recommendations made by the Standing Committee on Transport,
Tourism and Culture regarding security of airports in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to chalk out any scheme to check the luggage of the passengers outside the departure hall of the airports keeping in view the seizure of contraband items in the luggage of passengers after entry in departure hall and the recent terrorist incidents on airports of foreign countries; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): The recommendations made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture regarding security at airports in the country are being examined in Ministry of Civil Aviation.

(c) & (d): The security system at airports in India is reviewed from time to time and upgraded as per requirements with involvement of all security agencies and stakeholders, depending upon threat perceptions.
