Question : HOME LOANS



(a) whether he has instructed the public sector banks not to increase the interest on Home Loans for the current year;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the percentage of Home Loans advanced by private sector banks is higher than the public sector banks; and

(d) if so, the percentage of Home Loans advanced by public and private banks in the country during each of the last three years?

(a) & (b) : It was desired that Public Sector Banks may rein in interest rates on home loan at the current level as further increase by banks may not be necessary provided banks are in a position to address the rebalancing of their credit portfolio.

(c) & (d): The information is being collected and will be laid on the Table of the House to the extent available.
