(a): Main objective of NBHM is promoting scientific beekeeping for holistic growth of beekeeping industry for income & employment generation, providing livelihood support to farm and non-farm households, to enhance agriculture/ horticulture production, developing infrastructural facilities, viz.; setting up of Integrated Beekeeping Development Centres (IBDCs), honey testing labs, bee disease diagnostic labs, nucleus stock, bee breeders, HRD/ capacity building, empowerment of women through Beekeeping, etc. under Mini Mission-I, setting up of collection, trading, branding, value addition, marketing centres, honey processing plants, storage, etc. under Mini Mission-II and R&D under Mini Mission -III.

(b): Banas Honey Projectwas implemented by Banas Dairy, Palanpur, Gujarat with the assistance of KVIC. The project has been extended to Patan District. More than 400 farmers from Banaskantha & Patan Districts have been trained in beekeeping. These beekeepers are migrating their bee hives to Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Somnath, Veraval, etc. districts of Gujarat.
