Question : UNIFORM STANDARD OF EDUCATION IN UNIVERSITIES



(a) whether the Government has conducted any study to assess the standard of education in the country;

(b) if so, the outcome thereof;

(c) whether the Government has formulated any policy to ensure uniform standard of education in all the universities of the country; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b): NCERT has conducted two rounds of the National Achievement Surveys at the end of Classes III, V and VII/VIII since 2002. As a result of the various inputs provided to the Government and Government Aided schools, the studies reveal that the mean achievement of children in different subjects and various classes from Cycle I (2002- 2004) to cycle II (2006-2008) enhanced by 2 to 10%.

(c) &(d): UGC has notified a regulation fixing minimum standards and procedures for awards of M.Phill/Ph.D. degree in Universities.
