MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEAVY INDUSTRIES AND PUBLIC ENTERPRISES
(SHRI PON. RADHAKRISHNAN)

(a): The manufacturing capacity / capability of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) to deliver main power plant equipment during 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 is as follows:

 2011-12	2012-13	2013-14 15,000 MWp.a.	20,000 MW p.a.	20,000 MW p.a.

(b) : BHEL has already expanded its manufacturing capacity / capability of main power plant equipment to 20,000 MW p.a. and is not contemplating any further enhancement in this regard.

BHEL contributes in the setting up of different power projects for various project developers / customers / Utilities by way of its role as manufacturer / supplier of main plant equipment/ package, and also as an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor. As such, the Company on its own does not play the role of a power project developer.

However, the company has entered into a joint venture for setting up the new power project through business alliance and equity participation in Karnataka.

(c) : No, Madam. The managerial capacity & capabilities in BHEL are adequate and there is no such obstacle.

(d) : Does not arise in view of (c) above.
