Question : VACANT POSTS OF TEACHERS IN KVS



(a) the category-wise number of posts of teachers including Principals lying vacant in Kendriya Vidyalayas during academic session 2009-10 in the country, State-wise;

(b) the number of teachers including Principals appointed during the current academic session, State-wise; and

(c) the efforts made to fill these vacant posts during the current academic session?

(a) & (b): As on 1.11.2009, there were 2644 posts of teachers including Principals lying vacant in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) all over the country. During the current academic session, 1703 teachers including 57 Principals, 335 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs), 411 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), 717 Primary Teachers (PRTs) and 183 miscellaneous teachers were appointed. Category-wise and State-wise details of these vacant posts and the number of teachers including Principals appointed during the current academic session are annexed.

(c) Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) makes appointment to the post of teachers as per the requirement of the KVs. The selection is made through a competitive examination followed by interview. The Assistant Commissioners of Regions and the Vidyalaya Management Committees (VMCs) have been authorized to appoint part time teachers as per the requirement of the KVs falling under their jurisdiction to tide over the situation of shortage of staff as a temporary measure, so that teaching-learning process is not adversely affected.
