Question : Commission for Coal Mines

(a) whether the Government plans to constitute a commission for coal mines in India and if so, the details therefor;

(b) the details of the locations of coal mines from where coal has been extracted along with the quantity of coal produced therefrom;

(c) whether special arrangements have been made using latest methodology to safeguard the employees of coal mines; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) Government has no proposal to constitute a commission for coal mines in India.

(b) The details of the locations of coal mines from where coal has been extracted along with the quantity of raw coal produced during 2020-21 is given below:

(c& d). Yes sir. The special arrangements that have been made by using the latest methodology/technology to safeguard the employees of coal mines are as under:
(i). Preparation and implementation of risk assessment based Safety Management Plans (SMPs).

(ii). Preparation and implementation of Principal Hazards Management Plans (PHMPs) along with Trigger Action Response Plan (TARP).

(iii). Formulation and compliance of Site-specific Risk Assessment based Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

(iv). Conducting safety audit of mines.

(v). Online Centralized Safety Monitoring System has been developed for monitoring different safety parameters.
