Question : WAY SIDE AMENITIES ALONG NATIONAL HIGHWAYS



(a) whether the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) proposes to set up way-side amenities along the National Highways (NHs) in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof, NH-wise and the locations/sites identified for the purpose;

(c) whether the NHAI is contemplating to tie up with the oil marketing companies to develop these way-side amenities; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (d) OF THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 299 ANSWERED ON 18TH MARCH, 2013 ASKED BY SHRI THIRUMAAVALAVAN REGARDING ‘WAY-SIDE AMENITIES ALONG NATIONAL HIGHWAYS’

(a) to (d) Facilities and way-side amenities like parking lots, eating places, toilet facilities, telephone booths, drinking water, first aid, petrol pumps, and rest rooms have been envisaged by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to be provided on the project corridors. Details of already allotted sites for way-side amenities are placed at Annexure-I. Sites identified between Hyderabad- Kannyakumari on North South Corridors and between Porbandar-Lucknow on East West Corridors along with some tourist circuits are placed at Annexure–II. NHAI is contemplating to allot these wayside amenities through open bidding.
