Question : NON RECEIPT OF SCHOLARSHIPS



(a) Whether a large number of tribal students have not received scholarships and stipends during the last few years in various schools and colleges;

(b) If so, the details thereof during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise;

(c) Whether the Government proposes to chalk out any mechanism to ensure that all tribal students received their scholarship and stipends annually; and

(d) If so, the corrective measures taken by the Government in this regard?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF TRIBAL AFFAIRS (SHRI MANSUKHBHAI DHANJIBHAI VASAVA)

(a) to(d): The Ministry of TribaJ Affairs implements the following schemes for providing scholarship/fellowships to tribal students:

 I. Pre-Matric Scholarship II. Post Matric Scholarship III. Top Class Education IV. Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship V. National Overseas Scholarship VI. Vocational Training Centres 
Pre-Matric, Post Matric Scholarship scheme are implemented through State/UT administrations. Top Class Education scholarship is implemented through the institutes. Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship is implemented through University Grants Commission. National Overseas Scholarship implemented through Ministry of External Affairs.

Number of beneficiaries and amount released for each Scholarship/Fellowship is placed as Annexure-I.

In order to provide expedite service, Some State Govt.s are transferring the funds to students Bank Account directly. While Ministry of Tribal of Tribal Affairs, through UGC transfers RGNF directly to the beneficiaries` bank account.

Ministry of Tribal Affairs reviews and reengineers schemes based on their evaluation on a periodic basis.
