Question : Cultivation under National Bamboo Mission

(a) the details of the increase in bamboo cultivation achieved through the National Bamboo Mission since its inception;

(b) the number of bamboo farmers benefitting under the Mission;

(c) whether any post-harvest processing units were created under the Mission;

(d) if so, State-wise details thereof;

(e) whether any farmers and artisans have received skilling under the Mission;

(f) whether the bamboo farmers and artisans have recieved any financial assistance under the Mission; and

(g) if so, details thereof?

(a) & (b): So far, under restructured National Bamboo Mission launched in 2018-19, an area of 16744 ha has been brought under the bamboo plantation benefiting 12352 farmers, as reported by the State Bamboo Missions.

(c) & (d): Under the Product Development & Processing component of the mission, 51 Processing Units for Value Addition, 21 Management of Bamboo Waste in Primary Processing Units and 171 Micro/Medium Processing units have been created so far. State wise details is at Annexure-I

(e): 7460 of farmers/ artisans have been provided Skill Development Trainings by the States & Bamboo Technical Support Groups (BTSGs)

(f) & (g): Financial assistance for an amount of Rs. 2988.45 Lakh has been provided to farmers and artisans under the mission.
