Question : BHADRAPADA SAKA MAINTENANCE OF MONUMENTS



(a) whether due to improper restoration method followed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), most of the prominent monuments in Delhi including ‘ Khirki Masjid’ and ‘Safdarjung Tomb’ are slowly turning pink;

(b) if so, whether the Government has taken any steps to restore their original colour;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the time by which the original colours of the monuments are likely to be restored;

(d) whether necessary funds have been made available for the purpose; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)to(e) No Sir. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) undertakes conservation of protected monuments in Delhi including ‘Khirki Masjid’ and ‘Safdarjung Tomb’ at Delhi on the prescribed conservation guidelines and principles for heritage buildings. Requisite funds are provided for conservation works of protected monuments depending upon the need of repairs and availability of resources and they are in a good state of preservation.
