(a) & (b). Yes Sir. Steps have been taken in collaboration with the Fisheries Institutes of Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) viz; Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) and Central Institute of Fresh water Aquaculture (CIFA) and Government of Gujarat for promotion of pearl culture. Considering the scope for pearl culture, a sub-component of ‘pearl culture (marine & inland)’ is included under the CSS on “Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and management of Fisheries” being implemented by this Department and financial assistance is provided to the States for undertaking pearl culture. The CMFRI and CIFA also organize training programs for the farmers, entrepreneurs and researchers on various aspects of pearl farming.
