Question : National Urban Transport Policy

Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) the current status of the National Urban Transport Policy in the country;
(b) whether the recommended modifications in the policy document have been implemented to make road transport and communication hassle free and improve transport infrastructure and if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise; and
(c) whether the vision of the policy document has been translated into any scheme of transportation and if so, the details thereof?

(a) &(b): The Government of India (GoI) issued the National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP), 2006 which provides the broad framework for development of urban transport in the country. No modification in the NUTP, 2006 has been recommended by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

(c): The vision of the NUTP is being followed in all the present schemes/projects of MoHUA on urban transport viz. metro projects availing central financial assistance and urban transport planning & capacity building scheme.
