Question : RENEWABLE ENERGY SCHEMES



(a) whether the Government proposes to formulate any investment plan for renewable energy sector;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether allocated funds have been spent on renewable energy schemes during the last three years;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefore; and

(e) the targets fixed to achieve renewable energy generation in megawatt and the total power dist- ributed out of it per year?

(a) & (b): The investment in renewable energy is mainly by private sector. However, the Government has approved an outlay of Rs. 33,003 crore for Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for promotion of new and renewable energy during 12th Plan period. This includes Rs. 19,113 crore as Budgetary Support and Rs. 13,890 crore from Internal and Extra Bud- getary Support (IEBR).

(c) & (d): The utilization of funds was 99 per cent, 96.22 per cent and 93 per cent of the revised esti- mates during years 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 respectively. Minor shortfall was due to non- receipt of suitable proposals under some programmes.

(e): The details of targets and achievements for grid-interactive renewable energy generation are as below:
