Question : SPORTS MEET FOR DISABLED



(a) whether the Government has held/proposes to hold any sports meet for the disabled;

(b) if so, the details thereof during each of the last three years and the current year;

(c) the funds allocated and utilized for this purpose during the said period; and

(d) the future action plan prepared in this regard?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS (SHRI PRATIK PRAKASHBAPU PATIL)

(a) to (d) : The Scheme of Sports & Games for Disabled has been introduced from November 2009. The Scheme provides inter alia for grant for conduct of District, State and National level sports competitions for disabled sportspersons. Since the Scheme has been introduced from November, 2009, no sports competitions could be conducted during the year 2009-10.

However, the Ministry separately gives assistance to National level sports federations dealing with disabled sportspersons viz. Paralympic Committee of India, Special Olympics Bharat and All India Sports Council of the Deaf under the Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations for conduct of national championships and for participation in international sports events. Fund released to these three NSFs during last three years are given as under:
