MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE
(SHRI SHIV PRATAP SHUKLA)
The total number of new Income-Tax Return (ITR) filers added during this Financial Year 2018-19 upto 24-July-2018 is 23 lakhs. These filers have submitted ITR for the first time in this Financial Year and have filed no ITR in previous three Financial Years.
There are no direct benefits given to a new taxpayer by the Government as filing of returns and payment of tax is a statutory obligation. However, eligible taxpayers are issued a Certificate of Appreciation for their contribution towards nation-building. Moreover, a taxpayer may get indirect benefits in terms of higher eligibility for bank loan or credit card, ease in obtaining tenders for contract or registration on Government or corporate panels, ease in obtaining a visa to travel abroad, etc. by virtue of being a regular taxpayer.
