(a) whether the Government proposes to extend the period of Duty Entitlement Passbook
Scheme(DEPB) as reported in Navbharat dated March 25, 2006;
(b) if so, the details and the facts thereof; and
(c) if not, the time by which the new scheme is likely to be formulated?

(a) to (c) The Foreign Trade Policy stipulates that DEPB Scheme will continue
until it is replaced by a new scheme. The Department of Revenue has issued the
enabling Notification No.32/2006-CUS dated 31.3.2006 oprationalising the
scheme till 31.3.2007.
