Question : PRODUCTION OF SUNFLOWER

(a) the total production of sunflower in the country during each of the last three years, State –wise;

(b) whether National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) has been assigned to procure the stock of sunflower from the States; and

(c) if so, the details in this regard?

(a) A statement showing the state-wise production of sunflower in the country during the last three years from 1997-98 to 1999-2000 is given in the Annexure.

(b) & (c) Yes, Sir. National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation(NAFED) is the central nodal agency of the Govt. of India for procurement of oilseeds including sunflower seed under the Price Support Scheme. The State-wise quantity of sunflower seed procured by NAFED during 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 is as under:
