Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI A. NARENDRA)

(a) to (c ) : Under Integrated Wastelands Development Programme (IWDP) lists of the prioritized districts are called from the State Governments every year and the projects are sanctioned as per the availability of funds for new projects after accounting for the committed liability for projects already in progress. Accordingly, all prioritized projects upto 2003-04 have duly been sanctioned.

Under Drought Prone Areas Programme (DPAP), funds are released to the pre-identified blocks of the country. Projects are sanctioned suo-moto by the Department of Land Resources depending upon the availability of funds after meeting out the committed liability of ongoing projects and taking into consideration area left to be tackled in a particular block. Hence, proposals are not received under DPAP. Above procedure is uniformly applicable throughout the country including Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra States .
