(a) whether the uranium reserves are likely to be found in Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether any survey for physical verification of the said reserves has been conducted; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) Geological favourability exists for locating uranium
occurrences in Balaghat District, Madhya Pradesh.
(b), (c) & (d) Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration & Research
(AMD), a unit under the Department of Atomic Energy
carried out reconnaitory and detailed surveys in
different parts of the district during 1980`s and
1990`s. As a result of these surveys only a few
surface uranium anomalies were located. As the results
of these were not encouraging no further studies were
carried out.
