Question : Cess on Petrol-Diesel

(a) whether the Government has imposed cess on petrol and diesel in the country and if so, the details thereof along with the amount collected from petrol and diesel during the last three years;

(b) whether the Government has set any target to collect the cess on petrol and diesel, if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether there has been an increase in the collection on cess on petrol and diesel; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the resultant impact on the subsidy disbursed by the Government to oil companies during the last three years?

(d): The prices of Petrol and Diesel have been made market determined by the Government effective 26th June, 2010 and 19th October, 2014 respectively. Since then there is no under-recovery on sale of these products. However, subsidy provided by the Government on sale of Diesel during the period 2014-15 (upto 18.10.2014) is Rs. 10,935 crores.
