(a) the progress made so far in the construction of National Waterways in Kerala;
(b) the sectors where the work has been completed and commissioned and sector where work is in progress, sector-wise;
(c) the estimated cost of the construction of these National Waterways; and
(d) the funds allocated for the said purpose?

(a) & (b) Capital dredging in Champakara and Udyogamandal Canals, and in Kochi-Allapuzha Stretch of National Waterway No.3 has been completed. Capital dredging in other stretches is in progress. Land acquisition for construction of 10 (no.) terminals and for widening of canals has been completed. Construction of 3 (no.) terminals has been completed and work is in progress in respect of 4 (no.) terminals. Other works completed include repairs of locks at Thannermukkom and Thrikunnapuzha, channel markings, bank protection etc.
(c) The estimated cost of development of NW-3 as of now is Rs. 130.68 crore.
(d) Rs. 33.85 crore was spent during 9th plan and a sum of Rs.21.62 crore has been spent in 10th Plan (upto 31.3.2004). The total outlay provisioned under 10th Plan is Rs.65.73 crore.
