Question : PROBATIONERS OF INDIAN POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT



(a) whether the Government are contemplating to corporatise the Indian Post and Telegraph Department though nothing has been mentioned in this regard in the selection procedure/service conditions for probationers of the Indian Post and Telegraph Department by the Union Public Service Commission;

(b) If so, the measures being taken by the Government to maintain Civil Service Status of the probationers of the Indian Post and Telegraph Department who have been selected by the UPSC; and

(c) the job likely to be given to those who do not wish to join the proposed corporation?

(a) Yes Sir, the Government is contemplating to corporatise the Department of Telecom Operations by 01.10.2000.

(b) Case is under consideration of Government and no final decision has been taken so far.

(c) As per present rules they will be referred to surplus cell for further deployment in other Government Departments.
