(a) & (b): The solar photovoltaic programme in Orissa is being implemented by the Orissa Renewable Energy Development Agency. According to the information furnished by the Agency, no village in Cuttack district has been electrified through solar photovoltaic systems under the Rural Electrification Programme. However, 24 solar street lighting systems have been installed in two villages of Cuttack district, namely Baanda village in Tangi Chouwdar Block and Singanath Pitha of Gopinathpur village in Baramba Block. In addition, 138 solar lanterns and 16 solar home lighting systems have been distributed / installed in the Cuttack district.

As on 31st May 2000, a total of 5,469 solar lanterns, 1,211 home lighting systems, 5,576 street lighting systems and power plants of 36.52 kWp aggregate SPV capacity have been distributed / installed in the state of Orissa.
