STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (b) OF THE LOK
SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.323 FOR 14.3.2006 ASKED BY SHRI M.
SHIVANNA REGARDING PROMOTION OF SANSKRIT
(a) and (b) Information regarding Sanskrit Vidyalayas is
being collected.
State-wise number of Sanskrit Universities, their
number which have been provided funds by the Ministry and the
amount of funds released to them during last three years are
given in the annexure.
(c) and (d) While there is no proposal to introduce any
scheme to provide employment to Sanskrit scholars, a scheme
for Development of Sanskrit Education is already being
implemented with the following components:-
i) Financial assistance to eminent Sanskrit Pandits in
indigent circumstances;
ii) Award of scholarships to students of High/Higher
Secondary Schools;
iii)Salary support for Sanskrit teachers in Secondary
Schools;
iv) Modernisation of Sanskrit Pathshalas;
v) Grants to State Governments, Deemed Universities
and NGOs for promotion of Sanskrit.
vi) Grant to Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan/Deemed
Universities/Central Board of Secondary
Education/National Council for Education, Research
and Training (NCERT)/State Council for Education,
Research and Training (SCERT) etc for improving the
methodology of teaching Sanskrit.
