STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. 232 BY SHRIMATI RAKSHA NIKHIL KHADSE TO BE ANSWERED ON 04.12.2019 IN LOK SABHA REGARDING EVALUATION OF PRIVATE TRAIN OPERATION
(a) and (b) Ministry of Railways have constituted a Group of Secretaries (GoS) with a term of one year for development of Railway Stations to world class standards and permit private passenger train operators to operate trains with world class technology over Indian Railways Network, with the following broad terms of reference:-
i. Approval of the bidding process along with Bid documents and
ii. Monitor the bidding process and to take decisions to ensure the award of projects in a time bound manner.
As of now, the GoS has held four meetings in this regard.
(c) As per the terms and conditions, the mid-term review of the first Tejas train being operated by IRCTC and which has commenced its service w.e.f. 04.10.2019, is due after the expiry of one year.
