Question : Crop Damage due to Heavy Rains

(a) the value of agricultural and horticultural crops damaged due to heavy rains in Marathwada region especially in Osmanabad and Parbhani during the last year;

(b) whether the Government has conducted any survey in this regard and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to provide assistance to farmers under National Disaster Relief Fund to cover the said losses, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(d) whether the Government has received any request in this regard and if so, the reaction of the Government thereto;

(e) the steps taken by the Government to cover the loss of life, property and livestock along with the details thereof; and

(f) whether the Government has released any funds in this regard, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (f) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 103 DUE FOR REPLY ON 27th JULY, 2021.

(a) to (f): The State Governments undertake relief measures in the wake of natural disasters from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) already placed at their disposal in accordance with Government of India approved items and norms. Additional assistance is extended from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) as per established procedure. The assistance approved under SDRF/NDRF norms is provided in the form of relief.

In the wake of heavy rains in the months of June-October 2020, the State Government of Maharashtra submitted a Memorandum seeking financial assistance from NDRF. The Government of India has approved a financial assistance of Rs.701.00 crore to Maharashtra.
