Question : Medical Negligence by Private Institutions

(a) whether cases of negligence and misbehavior during the treatment of Government employees and pensioners by private medical agencies empanelled with Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) have come to the notice of the Government, if so, the details thereof State-wise including Delhi;
(b) the details of steps taken by the Government for protecting the interests of CGHS beneficiaries;
(c) the details of action taken against such private medical institutions empanelled with CGHS during the last two years?

(a) to (c) :20 complaints (18 in Delhi, 1 in Pune and 1 at Jabalpur) have been received against CGHS empanelled Health Care Organizations (HCOs) and following action has been taken against private empanelled HCOs with regard to complaints after due scrutiny thereof as per the terms and conditions of Memorandum of Agreement: -
(i) Hospital suspended from CGHS empanelment
(ii) Liquidated damages have been recovered.
(iii) Show Cause Notices have been issued.
(iv) Advisory has been issued and in some cases, warning / caution has been given.
Empanelled HCOs have been asked to nominate Nodal Officer(s) to facilitate delivery of healthcare facilities to the beneficiaries.
