Question : Educational Institutes

(a) whether the Government has allocated any Institutes of Eminence to the North
Eastern States and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether there is any single premier education institute of National importance such
as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), All India
Institute of Management and Science (AIIMS), etc. in Arunachal Pradesh and if not, the
reasons therefor; and
(c) the number of students decreasing in North Eastern Regional Institute of Science
and Technology and if so, the details thereof?

(a): The process of selection of Institutions of Eminence (IoEs) has not yet been
completed.
(b): Yes, Madam. National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh, an Institute of
National Importance (INI), was established by the Central Government in the State of
Arunachal Pradesh under NIT Act, 2007.
(c): As per data provided by North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology
NERIST), Arunachal Pradesh, the actual number of students of NERIST in the last four
Academic Years is as under:
