(a) whether the Government proposes to increase the Tower capacity of WLL and Mobile connections in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal;
(b) if so, the time by when the said task is likely to be completed;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the manner in which the Government is planning to clear the waitlisted applications of about 2100 connections of WLL and 10000 connections of BSNL in Cooch Behar?

(a) to (c) There is a proposal to increase the capacity of MOBILE BTS at Baburhat, Cooch Behar, Tallitola, Dinhata, Mekhliganj, Mathabhanga and Toofanganj. This will increase the capacity of each from present 1000L to 2500L, which is likely to be completed in the year 2005. As the Tower capacity of WLL BTSs at Cooch Behar, Dinhata, Mathabhanga and Mekhliganj have been increased from 500L to 1000L, there is no plan to increase further the WLL capacity.
(d) For clearing the wait-listed applicants the following measures are being taken:-
(1) Recently 1000L COR-DECT WLL system has been installed at Toofanganj.
(2) FWT for WLL connections are being provided.
