(a) whether the University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued direction to all Central
Universities located across the country to include None Of The Above (NOTA) as one of
the option for conduction of students union election;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the UGC has received any response in this regard from any Central
Universities; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): The University Grants Commission (UGC) has informed that it had received
references from student unions seeking inclusion of None Of The Above (NOTA) option in the
voting system for Election of Students’ Union. UGC had issued a letter to Vice-Chancellors of all
universities to include the column NOTA option in the Electoral Voting Machines (EVMs) and
ballot papers, while conducting student elections to ensure free and fair elections among

from Central Universities.
