(a): The number of insured persons availing Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) facility, State/UT wise as on 31/3/2015 is as per Annexure-I. The ESI Act, 1948 is applicable to workers drawing wages upto Rs.15,000/- p.m., primarily in the organized sector in areas which have been notified by the Central Government under Section 1(3) of the said Act. The State/UT-wise data of labourers in the organized sector in the country is not maintained Centrally.

(b): There are 151 ESI hospitals and 1459 of ESI Dispensaries under ESI Scheme. State/UT-wise list is enclosed as per Annexure-II & III.
(c) & (d): A proposal for enhancing the wage limit from Rs. 15,000/- to Rs. 25,000/- was put up in the Standing Committee of ESIC on 15th June 2016. There were divergent views on the proposal of enhancement of wage ceiling and therefore it was decided that the issue requires detailed discussions with all stakeholders and all aspects need to be examined threadbare.
(e) & (f): Under 2nd Generation Reforms Agenda ESIC- 2.0, it was decided to extend the coverage of ESI Scheme throughout country in different phases. In first phase the whole district will be covered under ESI Scheme where the Scheme is partially implemented and in second phase the remaining districts where the Scheme is not implemented will be covered.
In State of Haryana, Faridabad District has been fully implemented. Proposal for implementation of remaining 20 Districts is awaited.
Number of Districts of State/UTs showing the details about proposal for implementation of Scheme along with action thereon is enclosed as per Annexure-IV.
