Question : Ayush Hospitals-Institutions

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) the details of AYUSH hospitals, medical centres/dispensaries, educational institutions/colleges functioning in the country, stream and State/UT-wise;

(b) whether the Government proposes to set up more AYUSH hospitals, medical centres/despensaries, educational institutions/colleges, if so, the details thereof, location and State/UT-wise including Maharashtra, along with the details of funds earmarked, allocated and utilized for the purpose,

(c) whether the Government has received proposals from the various States regarding setting up of AYUSH college and hospitals in their respective states particularly in rural and tribal areas, if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise including Chhattisgarh, along with response of the Government thereto;

(d) whether the Government proposes to set up speciality hospital/dispensaries of Aurveda for the treatment of various focal diseases like cancer, heart diseases, diabetes where affordable medicines are made available in the country, if so, the details thereof State/UT-wise including Rajasthan and if not, the reasons therefor;

(e) whether the AYUSH hospitals/ dispensaries/educational institutions are facing shortage of doctors/staff in the country, if so, the details thereof along with existing doctors/staff members working in the said institutions; and







(f) the corrective measures taken by the Government in this regard along with steps taken to upgrade and strengthening the infrastructure of AYUSH centre in the country?

(a): the details of AYUSH hospitals, medical centres/dispensaries, educational institutions/ colleges functioning in the country State/UT-wise is furnished at Annexure-I.
(b) to (d): As health is a State subject, setting up of AYUSH hospitals and colleges come under the purview of respective State/UT Governments. However, under National AYUSH Mission (NAM), there is provision of financial assistance for setting up of upto 50 bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospitals for treatment of various ailments and setting up of new AYUSH Educational Institutions in the States/UTs where it is not available in Government sector. The status of grant-in-aid approved and utilized State/UT wise including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan is furnished at Annexure-II.
(e) & (f): As health is a State subject, the data on number of doctors/staff for AYUSH hospitals/ dispensaries/ educational institutions is not maintained by Government of India.
Under National AYUSH Mission (NAM) there are provisions for upgrading and strengthening the infrastructure of AYUSH including AYUSH Hospitals, dispensaries, AYUSH Educational institutions, State AYUSH pharmacies and State Drug testing laborites. State/UT Governments are required to submit their proposal through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs).
