Question : VACANT POSTS IN KVS .



(a) Whether a large number of posts in various categories/subjects are lying vacant in the Kendriya Vidyalayas;

(b) If so, the details thereof, State-wise, region-wise and Subject-wise;

(c) The time by which these posts are likely to be filled up;

(d) Whether due to shortage of teachers teaching is not upto the mark in many Kendriya Vidyalayas;

(e) Whether Kendriya Vidyalayas have appointed many part time teachers for afternoon shift compromising the quality of education; and

(f) If so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b) The details of State-wise and region-wise number of posts in various categories/subjects lying vacant in Kendriya Vidyalayas as on 30.06.2006 are at Annexure I to VII.

(c) Out of 4853 vacant posts as on 30.06.2006, 825 posts have been filled up as on date. Filling up of vacant posts is a continuous process.

(d) No, Sir. The Kendriya Vidyalayas are authorized to appoint teachers on contract basis to make good any shortage of teachers in the Vidyalayas, so that teaching does not suffer.

(e) & (f) The afternoon shifts also have regular teachers and wherever there are vacancies, teachers are appointed on contract, as is the practice for regular shifts. The quality of education is not compromised.
