Question : Money Spent on Skill Training

(a) the details of the money spent by the Government on skill development in the last one year;


(b) the number of people to whom skill training was imparted, scheme-wise;


(c) the amount paid to private skill training organisations for the training of each person, scheme-wise;


(d) the details of the ten largest private skill training organisations that have trained the most number of people; and


(e) whether skill training has led to increase employability and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) There are over 40 skill development schemes implemented by over 18 Central Ministries/Departments across various sectors which has the mandate to promote skilling of all the people including youth, in the Country.


Details of people trained under various skill development schemes/programmes of over 18 Central Ministries/Departments for the year 2014-15 to 2015-16 (upto December, 2015) are as under:-

Further, Government has set up the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as a Public Private Partnership entity to promote private training providers to set up Skill Development Centres across the Country. NSDC, an industry led ‘Not For Profit Company’ acts as a catalyst in a skill development by providing the fund received from National Skill Development Fund (NSDF) to enterprises, companies and organisations that provide skill training. The details of the funds allocated/spent by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for different activities related to skill development across the Country for the current financial year 2015-16 are as under:-

Note : Data has been extracted from the current financial year (1st April 2015 to 31st Jan 2016).
Further, Government through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has constituted and operationalised 33 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) which are industry led bodies intended to align the skilling efforts as per the industry’s requirement. The SSCs with representation from industry, academia and State/UT Government, prescribe the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Qualification Packs (QPs) based on which the training is imparted. As on 31st January, 2016, these 33 SSCs have developed 4323 unique National Occupational Standards (NOSs) for 1644 Job Roles align to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), to provide employable skills to youths.
