Question : URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES



(a)whether any provision has been made to change rules pertaining to funds released to States from Urban Improvement Incentive Fund in the country;

(b)if so, the details thereof;

(c)whether the Government have constituted any committee for urban infrastructure facilities;

(d)if so, the details thereof; and

(e)the steps taken/being taken by the Government to attract private and foreign investment to enhance the urban infrastructure facilities?

(a)&(b): The release of funds to States under Urban Reform Incentive Fund (URIF) of Rs.500 crores will be based on compliance ofthe States with the Memorandum of Agreement on Urban Sector Reforms.

(c)&(d): A Committee under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Department of Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation, has been set up to develop the guidelines and modalities for implementation of Urban Reforms Incentive Fund.

(e): The Government has recently permitted FDI for development of Integrated Township, including housing and building material.
