Question : NORMS FOR SETTING UP OF RHCS PHCS CHCS RCS



(a) the criteria for establishment of Rural Health Centre (RHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and sub-centres in the country particularly in hilly, tribal and difficult areas;

(b) whether the Government proposes to review the said criteria to make available the medical facilities in all the villages of the country; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) The Community Health Centres (CHCs) are currently provided on the opulation norm of 1 per 1,20,000 population in general areas and 1 per 80,000 population in hilly ,tribal and difficult areas. The Primary Health Centres (PHCs) are currently provided on the population norm of 1 per 30,000 population in general areas and 1 per 20,000 population in hilly, tribal and difficult areas. The Sub Centres (SCs) are currently provided on the population norm of 1 per 5,000 population in general areas and 1 per 3,000 population in hilly, tribal and difficult areas. No health facility named ‘Rural Health Centre (RHCs)’ are prescribed in existing norms.

(b): No such proposal is under consideration.
