Question : Schemes for Skill Development of Women

(a) The details of the schemes/programmes being implemented by the Government for skill development of women to increase their employability in the country;

(b) Whether the said schemes/programmes have achieved the desired results;

(c) If so, the number of women who availed the benefits of the said schemes/programmes during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise and scheme/programme-wise;

(d) whether the cases of irregularities/corruption in implementation of the said schemes in the country have come to the notice of the Government during the said period;

(e) if so, the details thereof, scheme/programme-wise along with the action taken/being taken by the Government in such cases so far; and

(f) the steps taken/being taken by the Government for effective implementation of the said scheme/programmes and to increase their coverage in the country?

Answer given by the minister

(a) Women’s Training Division under Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship conducts training under Craftsmen Training Scheme and Craft Instructors Training Scheme through a network of National and Regional Vocational Training Institutes exclusively for women. One National Vocational Training Institute is located in Noida and ten Regional Vocational Training Institutes are located at Mumbai (Maharashtra), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Panipat (Haryana), Kolkata (West Bengal), Tura (Meghalaya), Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Vadodara (Gujarat) and Jaipur (Rajasthan).
